Important MSDS Information (Canada Only)

Those products sold by Pro-Lab Diagnostics which are classified as medical devices under the Canadian Food & Drugs Act do not require a MSDS. The Medical Devices Regulations state that any relevant information required for the safe use of a medical device be included as part of the product’s labelling and instructions for use, thereby eliminating the need for a separate Material Safety Data Sheet.

The legal basis for exempting medical devices from MSDS requirements is stated in Part II Section 12 of the Canadian Hazardous Products Act. The relevant passage reads:

“12. This Part does not apply in respect of the sale or importation of any...
(b) cosmetic, device, drug or food within the meaning of the Food and Drugs Act;”
